Sunshine Sign Chosen to Provide Signage For CBS Sports & Entertainment Venue at Patriot Place in Foxboro
May 2008 Foxboro Mass., When two titans of the sports and entertainment world - the CBS network and the owners of the New England Patriots - combine their talents to build a unique sports and entertainment complex, only the best will do.
Due to open in time for the football season, The CBS Scene Restaurant and Bar is the centerpiece of a three-story 15,000 square foot entertainment, dining and sports complex located in Foxboro at Patriot Place right next to Gillette Stadium. The restaurant is equipped to host special CBS-themed functions with more than 130 high-definition flat-screen monitors and broadcast studios from which CBS's various radio and television affiliates can broadcast live. A retail outlet selling CBS merchandise called The CBS Store will be on the ground floor.
Cambridge Seven Associates (Cambridge, MA) was chosen to create a unique environment for this first-of-its-kind sports and entertainment complex. Outside, terraces were designed to provide views into the bowl of Gillette Stadium. Inside, The CBS Scene was conceived to accommodate the excitement and bustle of visitors and fans throughout the restaurant and in its private function space.
When it came to planning signage, Cambridge Seven Associates turned to Sunshine Sign Company (North Grafton, MA) to install new canopy signs throughout the complex. Canopy signs are building-mounted signs functioning as a marquee or building identifier. Waterproofing these signs against the harsh New England weather was a key challenge A new LED (light emitted diode) lighting product by Osram Sylvania providing wash-faced lighting behind the channel lettering was determined to be the best solution.
“Sunshine spent the time to understand the CBS Scene project and turned around outstanding mock-ups of the new LED signage”, said Cambridge Seven project manager, Chris Muskopf, “These design efforts helped facilitate getting customer approval quickly. With a lot of moving pieces on a project of this size, we like when things go smoothly.”
The CBS Scene entertainment complex promises to be a shining beacon amongst many bright lights at Patriot Place, according to Sunshine President Dave Glispin. “Wait until you see this project! We’re a part of something very special.”
